Work: MumSci: Mumbai Science Center
Mumsci is an international Science Center where exploration, experimentation, and discovery are the gateways to your experience. This campus includes 18,000 SM (193,000SF) of Exhibition Hall Space; a Hectare (2.5 Acres) of Outdoor Attractions; and a 45,000 SM (485,000SF) Science / Visitor Hotel & Extended Stay Housing, Labs and Conference Center.
The MumSci International Science Center, located in Mumbai, India joins the Worldwide network of Science Centers across the World. Scientists worldwide make an annual pilgrimage to MumSci to engage in a competition of the greatest minds to be challenged to solve urgent problems which confront our global realities.
Located next to two train transportation nodes (Belapur and Kharghar stations) MumSci will be 2 stops away from the new Navi Mumbai International Airport (proposed to open in 2019 and equipped to handle 60 Million passengers annually). It is also adjacent to the Mumbai highway and in close proximity to the Kalundre River.
MumSci is an International Science center is a playspace with outdoor activity grounds that are interspersed amongst the indoor exhibit ion ‘bubble’ spaces, a choose-your-own-adventure educational environment with energy-neutral utility goals (solar, wind, heat harvest, human power demos).
The smallest, most efficient three-Dimensional shape in the universe is the sphere. Here at MumSci the Science City lives, works, and brings life to a spherical reality in order to understand science on a variety of playful scales. Educational exhibits, viewing centers, and workshops bring vast concepts like black holes and the sound of gravitational waves into a tangible spatiality–while the architecture reminds us that our galaxy is interconnected, in constant motion, and never has an edge or a center.
MumSci is a journey along a continuum; we are just at the beginning of an adventure into uncertain terrain to discover the dynamic relationships between the forces of the universe. MumSci immerses visitors in exciting and daring experiences from different scientific points of view, physicality and play. An experience that reveals the multiple levels of consciousness from the microscopic to the cosmos.
